RYP Design is a venture where Robert Young Pelton collaborates with designers and legends to create unique products, ranging from books and graphic novels to knives and survival designs. To honor a hero like Billy Waugh, Robert teamed up with another Special Forces legend, William W. Harsey.
William is renowned for his collaborations honoring the Special Forces and is credited with many iconic combat-knife designs. These include working with Colonel Rex Applegate to create Gerber’s Applegate-Fairbairn line, partnering with Chief James Watson on Gerber’s Watson/Harsey Silver Trident, and collaborating with Chris Reeve and Matt Larsen on the LHR Combat Knife. He also designed the Neil Roberts Warrior Knife, dedicated to Petty Officer First Class Neil Roberts, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, and the Pacific/First Group Knife, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Army Special Forces in Asia.
The Yarborough Knife, named after Lt. Gen. William P. Yarborough, the “father of modern Special Forces,” is presented to graduates of the United States Army Special Forces Qualification Course and may be William’s most significant design. The collaboration between William’s design history and Billy Waugh’s extensive expertise has made the production of an exceptional knife like the DEMO possible. This fusion of knowledge and experience embodies what RYP Design is all about.
