Rick Hinderer Knives built this XM-18 frame lock folder, a USA-made knife with a working finish, belonging to the Gen 6 series featuring the Tri-Way pivot system.
This foldable knife boasts a 3.5" blade made from machined red G-10, equipped with a lanyard hole in the handle and a serrated thumb rest on both the handle and blade spine for enhanced grip. It offers dual thumb studs and a flipper for ambidextrous opening, and a robust frame lock mechanism improved by Rick Hinderer's patented lock bar stabilizer for seamless operation.
Designed for rugged, versatile use, it features a stone-washed titanium handle and a reversible tip-up/tip-down pocket clip.
The knife utilizes Crucible CPM® 20CV steel, a special tool steel produced via the Crucible Particle Metallurgy Process. This type of martensitic stainless steel contains a high concentration of vanadium carbides, providing exceptional wear resistance. With the highest chromium content among high-vanadium stainless steels, CPM 20CV offers excellent corrosion resistance. The CPM process results in a finer, more even carbide distribution, improving the steel's toughness and ease of sharpening, and enabling the production of more complex alloy grades not possible with conventional steelmaking.
