DON HANSON III - Large Steam Mill Hunter
Don provides the following information on the Steam Mill Hunters:
"The steel used in these knives is from old circular sawmill blades, featuring a higher carbon content than newer saw steel, at .80-.85 carbon and 1.5-2% nickel.
After being cut and profiled, the blades undergo thermal cycling for an extremely fine grain, then are heat-treated to a hardness of 61 RC.
The edges are ground down to nearly zero for extreme thinness, complemented by a hand-rubbed and etched finish.
The handles are made from vintage micarta with brass pins.
The larger model includes a thong hole tube; the smaller one does not."
