Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Bob Terzuola's grandfather had an idea for a design dedicated to remember this event in American history. The design was known as Remember Pearl Harbor of which initially here were several variations. The idea was to have ladies brooches or hat pins made in this design. The plan was expanded to men’s lapel pins. Bob’s father then took the idea and came up with several options for the design and on January 19, 1942 an application for this trademark was submitted to the US patent office and subsequently approved. The final subject was the design that you see on this knife, which has a genuine mother pearl inlay taking the place of the word “Pearl”. As the 60th anniversary of the attack approached in 2001, Bob Terzuola and Allen Elishewitz collaborated on this knife and it was released to the public- only 60 pcs were made to mark the 60 years that had passed since the event. The knife was immediately hailed as a collectible and sold out- well…..not quite! Earlier this year, Bob Terzuola moved from his home in Santa Fe to Albuquerque. Several weeks ago, while he was still unpacking some boxes from the move, guess what he found… YES! The last few knives from that project. Bob sent the knives to Allen, who “digitally re mastered” them by re blasting the blades and cleaning / tweaking / lubing the knives back to their original high standards. They all work perfectly, as they did in 2001 when they were first released. The blades are 154CM Stainless Steel and razor sharp. The handle is Anodized Aluminum with the Mother of Pearl inlay. The number 2403 is the number of souls lost that day in Hawaii. The knife mechanism is Bob’s own BALL GRIP- a cool kind of slip joint. The knife is slim, light & easy to carry. The knives come in their original presentation box with a certificate of authenticity individually signed in ink by both Bob and Allen. Also included is a copy of Bob's grandfather's original submission to the trademark office, dated 1/19/42 with all the original sketches on the back.
