My name is Neil Ostroff and I am the owner of True North Knives (TNK).

Although many of you have met me personally and probably know a little bit about the company, I thought it would be helpful if I post some more detailed information about myself and how the business is operated.

Sort of a TNK-FAQ!

I was born in Canada, in the beautiful, cosmopolitan city of Montreal, sometime in the 20th century (that would be during the second half of the century, OK?)

In the early 1970's, I entered into my father's business working for his international trading company. By the time I turned 18, I was traveling around the world as my father's protégé and assistant – already making many of the international contacts and learning the business skills that would eventually serve me well as a purveyor of fine knives.

I started True North Knives in 1999 and, after a shaky year or so, began to see a promising future.

In late 2000, a new web site (see below) was developed by www.AtlantaVirtual.com and we were off and running! Since that time, we have never looked back.

On Sunday afternoon, November 15, 2009, at 14;00hrs / 2;00pm, we launched our all new website which you are browsing at this time.  
Using the latest technology and shopping cart based features, we are now offering you not only what we feel should be more pleasant experience,
but also we have implemented the most stringent and up to date security measures for your online safety.

All of my old friends know most of my personal history, so my new friends should, too.

I am married to Sheila for the last 28 years who has earned two Masters Degrees and is a Creative Arts Psychotherapist with a private practice.  When the occasion calls for it, she also practices on me!

I have two children. My daughter, Liz, is 26 years old and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University in Montreal.   She presently is working for a large international corporation as a public relations liaison in their communications department.

My son, Alex, is 21 and is attending Concordia University working towards a career in film making and advertising. He is now looking at several schools in the USA for his graduate studies. Maybe one day, when he is accepting his Oscar at the Academy Awards in Hollywood, he will thank his old man for slaving away over a hot computer, seven days a week, selling shivs and shanks to put him through university and film school.

My dog, Cody, is my best friend. He is 11 years old.

We also now have a cat – a beautiful "Rag Doll" (Siamese/Himalayan mix) that my daughter brought home. His name is "Halo". (Most of us call him, "Bandit").  When she moved out, she left the cat and we are very happy that she did!
